Tell the message tonight is and God saw There we go I had a really good time studying this particular verse We Are going to consider some things that we don't normally get to consider in this verse that I believe can be liberating and And also very insightful Some of the most powerful truths That I know are simple truths The truth that sent me free the truth that has been the greatest strength to me is When we were yet without sin when we were yet without strength in due time Christ died for the ungodly The fact that Christ died for sinners that Christ died for the ungodly is the fundamental truth that I have operated off of since I became a believer and And this is a simple truth we're looking at tonight and the simple truths are Often the most powerful truths because they're easy to understand While back I was talking to a postal police officer About who can possess a firearm in a post office I mean he's the He's the postal police.
Did you know the the postal the post office policy is no one can bring a gun in But not only that you can even have one your car.
You can't leave your gun your car out in the parking lot That's the official postal Policy But the federal law on top of that also forbids You bringing a gun into a postal facility, but then it gives a whole list of exceptions to that law So I asked the postal police several months back if a police officer Was allowed to bring a farm inside the post office You might be surprised at what his answer was brother Shepherd you have any idea I'm sorry you you need to I'm not talking to you Huh He said I don't know The postal police Said I don't know he said that's a gray area Okay, so you see the more complicated something is The less understood it is and Let us understood it is the less powerful it is To the person who can't understand it on the other hand the more simple something is the less restrictive it is And so the more powerful it is For example if the law simply said no guns are permitted Period Then that means the law applies to all guns carried by all people There are no restrictions on that law at all It's equally applied tonight we're looking at a perfectly simple truth and I love it a Perfectly simple truth and thus there are absolutely no restrictions on this truth whatsoever and this truth concerns if you look in your text tonight the desire of the righteous the desire of the righteous man, when I started studying this my mind took me one direction and The more I pondered on it and just let that seep in a little bit The next thing I realized man.
This is powerful.
This is so powerful The he the desire the righteous the Hebrew word That's translated desire here.
It means something that a person longs for Wishes for Lusts for or desires to have Take your pen and underscore the word desire If you have that word desire there you could think again of the word lust You could think of the word long or wish And after you underscore the word desire circle the word righteous righteous The desire of The righteous You ready for a blessing God designed you to lust after things God designed you to long after things and to want things The desire of the Russian not the desire of the unrighteous the desire of the righteous God that God designed you to long and to lust after things to desire things the desire of the righteous It is righteous to have strong desires for things Never Let the devil make you feel guilty For enjoying what God has given you to enjoy repeat it again Never let the devil make you feel guilty For enjoying what God has given you to enjoy the devil loves to do that Again, I remember Several years back and perhaps some of y'all were here and remember where this man wrote in for help about his salvation And he just did not think he could be saved Unless he gave up his job as being a high school basketball coach The devil made him feel guilty could because he enjoyed it so much and he thought well, maybe I'm putting this before God I Know another man Who was afraid he couldn't be saved unless he quit going to the gym and exercising In fact, someone actually told him that How terrible it is but never Let the devil make you feel guilty for enjoying what God has given you to enjoy now What has God given you to enjoy write this down in your notes in your margin first Timothy chapter 6?
First Timothy chapter 6 Verse 17 Which says Paul said charge them that are rich in this world That they be not high-minded Nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God watch this now who give with us richly say it with me all things to enjoy All things To enjoy now we don't trust in uncertain riches But we can sure enjoy them.
I Was going down the road today Coming up on a stoplight This beautiful woman I'm not kidding this beautiful woman in a dark red brand-new Cadillac pulled up next to me started waving at me It was my mother My daddy got her a new Cadillac y'all seen her new Cadillac, you know what God gave that to them She ought to enjoy it Enjoy the fire that new Cadillac when I pull up in the parking lot and I remember when brother Tony I got that new pickup at nice pickup.
I thought man, that's nice Well, I got happy for brother Tony.
I didn't sit there and say oh That he could have he could have done so much more with that money.
He could have fed the poor he could have I didn't do that He worked for that He put in a lot of sweat blood and tears out Building boat docks for that back then and God gave him that pickup and he gives us all things And not just all things but all things richly To enjoy You know that God actually wants you to enjoy stuff He wants you to enjoy life The devil wants to get inside people's head.
It's this it's this false doctrine called asceticism to where He makes Christians think that only if they're suffering Only if they're sad only if they're walking around like this and suffering persecution something else.
Can they be holy?
Can they be pious?
But God gave us all things richly to enjoy when God made the Garden of Eden He put in every tree that was pleasant to the eyes He just didn't give Adam the ability to say well, you know, I believe that substance looks edible Now he made it pleasant to the eyes He made it sweet to the taste why because God wants us to enjoy what he's given us Enjoy it God gave Solomon riches God gave Solomon riches and If God gave Solomon riches, then those riches were righteous They were holy for Solomon to have now.
He may not give all people all things but Two people he gives all things richly to enjoy that makes sense The God may not give me and you Cadillac in fact as much as they cost.
I don't think he will All right And that's okay But what God does give me What God does put in my hand by his grace.
I Need to enjoy it whether it is carnal or whether it is spiritual Whether it is physical I need to enjoy it.
I Like getting up in the morning that man being told he had to quit lifting weights before he could be saved He called me so many times about that Guilty every time he tried to go to the gym Well, maybe you're vain well, maybe you're doing this well, maybe you're putting this before God all that going his mind Maybe I'm going to hell because I'm going to gym to exercise God help us with with thoughts like that because that's just not right Man when I got up this morning at 4 415 brother Shepherd, I probably beat you up.
Maybe Not this morning.
Okay, you were probably fasting and praying around too I imagine but but at 4 15 I'm getting up Man I turned and now my wife's in there with me We're in the gym together this morning and I'm got brother Shepherd Sunday School on and I'm listening to him Explaining about his a Kai's prayer and how he described God and it was wonderful and I'm exercising I got my blood flowing.
I love it.
I Love it.
God gave that to me And whatever God's given you you enjoy last Saturday my daughter Lauren had a birthday party for One of my granddaughters And I tell you what man me and my mom and dad went to that party Tammy was still up with her family in up north and My daughter Lauren made some of the best chocolate cake ever put in my mouth and she's all health conscious like me So it was all raw sugar whole grain flour.
It was the whole thing Man, I ate that it was so good my mom ate quite a bit and And I know my wife I told her I said I know what's gonna happen.
She's gonna be on this keto But if I take her this chocolate cake, she gonna say I shouldn't eat that but then she will I Got her a big old slab of that cake She ate it the next day because I saved her two cupcakes in Addition to the slab of cake is Lauren made cupcakes in a cake and and so the next morning I called Tammy right and I Texted Tammy.
I said don't forget hon.
You have two cupcakes that you can eat today She said I did have two cupcakes that I could eat today It was breakfast and she'd already eaten both cupcakes It was amazing Now was it a sin for her to lust after that cake Who said that now you're wrong you don't get suspended from being my assistant When When When I got through eating Barbecue after I picked Tammy up from the airport.
I was sitting there eating that barbecue barbecue was so good here at Maybank picked her up Dallas we stopped at Maybank soul man's And as I finished that barbecue my mind started thinking I've got chocolate cake at home And I was actually excited about getting home and stuff in my mouth with that chocolate cake Was it wrong for me to think that way?
No Why who made that chocolate taste good to me?
God did Who gave me a tongue to be able to taste it and a brain to enjoy it God did God gave us richly all things to enjoy now if Tammy ate so much of that cake that she became fat unhealthy and diabetic Then she would not be enjoying she would be destroying now.
There's the difference you see That's the difference and that's where we have to keep things in their proper order So it's okay to lust after nice things, but don't trust in them and don't abuse them.
It's okay to enjoy your food But don't destroy your body in doing so Can I can I make this simple for you?
You get you a big old slab of chocolate cake Stuff your face with it and go for a walk Is that simple enough?
I mean that is simple enough God gave us desires and he's given us all things richly to enjoy the first time this word That's translated desire here is used in the Bible is in Genesis 3 6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes the same word Translated the desire of the righteous is the same type of desire that Eve had When she looked at that fruit in the Garden of Eden What was wrong with Eve's desire She lusted Away from God not toward God.
That was not a righteous desire She was lusting after Something that God told her not to have she was lusting after something that was set her up as God God gave us all things Richly to enjoy what's the difference of the Garden of Eden?
God did not give her that fruit Eve could not look at that fruit and say God gave this to me root to enjoy because God told her don't eat it You can have everything but that You said well then God didn't give her all things yes, he did God gave her fruit All kinds of fruit that was good for And so yes, she had the ability to eat plenty of fruit that would tantalize her taste and all those good things That would not harm her But just as she lusted after that fruit we can lust after things that God gives us and it's okay Don't feel guilty about it Here's the kingdom truth tonight lust is a holy thing Until you lust after what's unholy Lust is a holy thing Until you lust After what's unholy God said the desire the righteous look back your text is only Good The desire the righteous is only good now the Hebrew word translated good here if you have been here any length of time have you Been here several years you have if you've been here a long time You've heard me teach on it if you've been here a shorter time I know you've heard brother shepherd teach on it because I've heard him teach on it The word tries to good here in the Hebrew is Tobe I'm here the first time I taught on Tobe brother Doug He that big old grin gets on his face and he goes Tobe all he got so excited Tobes an important word in the Bible when God created the heaven and the earth and everything in it The Bible says God looked and he saw that it was Tobe It was good Everything God made was Tobe and thus everything that God gives us is Tobe and it's only Tobe In fact the Bible tells us tonight That it is only Tobe if you'll look here in Genesis 1 31 it says in God saw everything Everything That he had made and behold it was very Tobe It was very good in the evening in the morning where the six day That leaving thing out.
No everything God made was Tobes.
So the desire of the righteous is Tobe If you're desiring something that God has put into your hand, it's Tobe But after humanity fell and Adam sinned the Bible tells us a different story And that's why the tau this message is called and God saw so in Genesis when God finished creating the heaven and the earth the Bible says and God saw Everything that he had made and it was very Tobe But then after the fall of man you look in Genesis chapter 6 verse 5 and God gives us a contrast we see the phrase again and God saw So earlier and God saw everything he made and it was Tobe but now in Genesis 6 and God saw That the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that the every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually That's not Tobe The desire the righteous is only good, but the imagination of fallen man is only evil You see in the previous verse in Genesis 1 31 it said God saw everything That he had made and it was very good in Genesis 6 5 It says that God saw the witness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination You see how God seeing both times and it's everything both times So everything God made was Tobe everything man did with what God made was not Tobe Man was destroying the Tobe that God made the desire the righteous is only good But the imagination of fallen man is only evil now the Hebrew word translated evil here is raw raw So God created everything to be Tobe and then man came along and made everything raw See what's happening?
Because Adam 8 From the tree of the knowledge of Tobe and raw in that amazing so in Genesis Prior to the fall of Adam God looks and everything's Tobe and Then God puts a tree of the knowledge of good and I'm sorry of Tobe and raw In the Garden of Eden says don't eat of it He only wants to have everything good.
He didn't wants to have everything Tobe and raw But they eat of it a few chapters later Everything man does is raw because he ate from the tree of the knowledge of Tobe and raw makes sense good and evil Desire the righteous is only Tobe.
Do you know what the difference between the church and the world is?
the church desires Jesus To make the creation Tobe again the world Desires Jesus to leave it alone Just like it is One desires the Tobe The other desires the raw As believers in Jesus Christ we view everything in this world as God's creation in man's mess You get that as believers in Jesus Christ we view everything in this world to be God's creation in man's mess We partake of everything in faith as believers in Christ.
Therefore.
Everything is Tobe unto us We sit as something that God made and it's good But we also see how man can take what God made is good that that's good and perverted and make it raw 1st Timothy chapter 4 verse 3 through 4 The Apostle Paul spoke of religious authorities who were making things raw.
He said they were forbidding to marry Now how can you forbid to marry?
Because when God made marriage everything was Tobe They said they're forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain from meats Meets that God made which are Tobe You know I can marry I can marry in faith I Can marry that knowing that God made marriage Tobe You know I can eat meat I can eat in faith knowing that God looked at everything that he had made and behold It was very Tobe And then he says here and command abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with Thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth So we can live and eat and enjoy what God has given us in faith and that makes it Tobe verse 4 for every creature of God is good or we could say even though we're in the Greek now we could say every creature of God is Tobe and Nothing to be refused if it be received with Thanksgiving In other words it's all Tobe if it's partaken of with Thanksgiving with the acknowledgement that God made this therefore It is good as long as I'm using it for the good purpose God created it for on the other hand the wicked can partake of the same thing the righteous people partake of and Be wrong for protecting of it We sit down God willing this this coming Sunday first Sunday of the month will sit down to a wonderful meal next door We sit down to that meal doesn't matter if it's pork Doesn't matter if it's coon Doesn't matter chicken or beef or whatever it is Doesn't matter as long as when we sit down and we pray in our hearts and faith and We acknowledge God as the one that created all things well and by his grace put this into our hand to enjoy You can take the same person who is an unbeliever put that same meal in front of him Someone who does not believe does not acknowledge God and eats that unthankfully It's Tobe to me it's raw to him see But to the righteous the desire is Tobe the desire of the righteous is only Tobe Because the righteous know how everything began they know everything is Tobe for the righteous And because they also know how everything will end When Jesus comes back those who trusted in him that are going to enter a new world where everything is Tobe All the raw is gone And only the good is left look back in your text, but the expectation of the wicked is wrath That's the difference for us.
The only thing that we could have looked forward to is God's wrath God's wrath is his righteous judgment against everything that's raw Had they eaten from every other tree that in that garden it would have all been Tobe It would have remained Tobe But they they put raw in the earth and God's gonna have to put it out Just like the chaff he's got to put it out When Jesus comes back, it's it's going to be called the great day of his wrath And when he returns he's going to destroy the raw He's going to restore the Tobe and the only thing that we have to look forward to when Jesus comes as believers in Christ is Tobe the only thing that the wicked are going to have to look forward to when Jesus comes is wrath against their raw They'll no longer be the knowledge of Tobin raw There's only gonna be the knowledge of Tobe Habakkuk chapter 2 verse 14 Speaks of this time.
It says for the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord The Bible says we've all sinned and come short of the glory of the Lord but in the end when Jesus comes back the raw is put away and The whole earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas See it's gonna be natural on that day When Jesus comes if you could picture it like this when Jesus comes back He said I'm gonna make all things new Now understand the one who comes back to make all things new is the one who made all things original in the beginning By making all things new he's gonna put it back the way it was originally And when Jesus comes back he makes all things new the raw is gone the Tob is here And when that happens once again for all eternity God will look upon everything that he has made and behold it will be very Tob Father we thank you so much for your precious word Thank you for your precious promises.

Lord the devil tries to to snag our minds and make us feel guilty About things we should not feel guilty for Because we can do it in faith in Thanksgiving and with the enjoyment that you have Caused us to have that you've put these things you've given us all things richly to enjoy We can do it in faith and it's Tob unto us and Father I thank you that for the righteous everything's Tob Paul said all things are lawful unto me and father.
I thank you dear Lord God that in the end You're gonna put away the raw and You'll look upon everything once again and behold it's going to be very good Lord we're living in a world right now Where the raw is multiplying?
We see the effects of the decision to eat from the tree of the knowledge of Tob and raw and we as believers Are going to enjoy the Tob And wait on you to come back and remove the raw and make it all new again I pray in the meantime dear Lord God That we will be to the praise of the glory of your grace Until your glory fills the earth in Jesus precious name.
