And turn to Proverbs 12, verse 6, please.
Proverbs 12, verse 6.
The title of the message tonight is Upright Words.
Upright Words.
Give everyone time to turn there.
Proverbs 12. at 2nd 6. , the people who are morally wrong and the words they have to say.
And we're thinking about words, we have to understand that language is a gift from God.
I don't know if you've ever thought much about it.
A lot of people have the idea that man started off by going, uh, and someone else going, uh, uh, and from that they developed this sophisticated , language that now wins Pulitzer Prizes.
And none of that's true.
Not at all.
In fact, God was very clear, that after creating Adam, He wanted us to know, that He brought all the animals before Adam, to see what names Adam would give, those animals.
And we even saw, that Adam gave the name, of woman, to the woman. .
And then he explained why he gave that name.
Because she was taken out of man.
There were no syllables.
It wasn't like some of the baby names we see today.
I asked someone the other day.
I said, what does your name mean?
They said, I don't know.
And I thought, it just drives me nuts.
Names should mean something.
They shouldn't just be syllables.
Anyway, meaningless names. her words.
But Adam was created a grown man with a full vocabulary.
A full vocabulary.
How wonderful that must have been for him and Eve to be able to communicate on such an immense, articulate level.
It must have been absolutely wonderful.

God created language.
God put that language in man at the Tower of Babel.
When God confused the languages, he performed a miracle and put full languages in groups of other people.

So words are a gift from God.

And God gave angels the gift of language.
So if words are a gift from God, then God gave us words as a blessing.

So God could communicate to us.

The Bible says their words, if you're looking back in your text, are to lie and wait for blood.
Now, if you're lying in wait, what does that mean?
It's like you can hunt in one of two ways.
You can either be on the prowl or you can sit and wait for your victim to come by.
And so, for the words of the wicked, those words are to lie and wait for blood, which literally means like they lie in wait when you umbrellos up you hide and you wait on your victim to come to you and then you use the element of surprise to attack them when they arrive and so the words of the wicked they lie in wait and they use and coon tree.

Trying to use words, casting nets into the sea.
And so they can entangle and lower their fellow men and harm them so they can be profited by their harm that's why they have to send emails like that to my computer all the time but business people they use their words to defraud their customers governments use their words to defraud and ensnare their citizens it's just plain evil what people do to other people instead of using words and edify their fellow men.
They used words to deceive them, set a trap for them, and ensnare them.
Satan executed the first political ambush in the Garden of Eden.
And he executed it with words.
I say a political ambush because that's what it was.
Man was put here on earth to rule in God, time.

And using the words that God had given, or that language rather that God had given Adam and Eve, Satan laid a snare for their souls.
He concealed it with the words that deceive Eve.
And Satan was lying.
And he laid an ambush because he knew that our parents' death would give him a degree of pain.
And people who have a lust for power, they will want power at any cost.
They don't care who it destroys.
I think a lot of ways they don't care if it even destroys themselves.
So long as they have power, and they can somehow think they're wresting that power from God and putting it into their own hands, 酷 sanctions!
But Satan knew that Adam and Eve's death would give him degree of power.
In Hebrews chapter 2, verses 14 and 15, Hebrews chapter 2, verses 14 and 15, the Bible says, For as much then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise, speaking of Jesus, took part of the same, that through death he might destroy him that had, watch this now, the power of death, --that is, the devil.
Death became a tool-- of power for Satan, to hang over our heads and to bring us into bondage.
Death, the power of death. he brought us into bondage to sin. the world keeping man from being able to ascend to the position that God created him for allowed him to be able to usurp our position in him ascend and sat on our throne instead.
How does Satan gain the power of death?
By using words.
Proverbs . insights.
Chapter 18 verse 21 says death and life are in the power of the tongue.
Now that's something isn't it?
We have Satan gain the power of death through the power of his tongue.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue and they that love it, that is they that love the tongue shall eat the fruit thereof.

But with the power of his tongue, Satan brought death upon all humanity.
With the power of our tongue, by God's grace, we try to bring life to all who believe the gospel.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, praise God.
Our enemy has the power of death through the power of his tongue. .
We have the power of life to the power of our tongue, and that's the Gospel truth.
So it goes on to say here, the words of the wicked lie in the wait for blood, look back in your text, but the mouth of the upright.
Thank God the wicked aren't the only people who have words to say.

Upright words are God's words.
If we have God's says the words in our mouth and God's words in our hearts will deliver us.
In the same way that the Israelites were delivered from Egypt.
One of the first things I thought about yesterday when I was studying this section of the verse is what we recently studied in Hosea.
Chapter 14 verse 1 and 2.
See, tonight we see the words of the upright shall deliver us from the first from the U.

It is the words that are believed in the heart.
It is the words that are repeated by the mouth.
The whole point is this.
God's words, God's truth about Jesus become our words and our truth about Jesus.
Jesus said in the gospels, .
By thy words, God's truth about Jesus.
By thy words, thou shalt be justified.
And by thy words, thou shalt be condemned.
Brother Shepard and I have been to court many, many times in our law enforcement career.
In fact, I talked to a lady today.
I got on the elevator and she got on the elevator.
She came from the U.S.
Attorney's office.
And she was all nervous.
She had some papers in her hands. .
And she said, I just got through the long interview.
I said, are you interviewing for a job, ma'am?
She said, oh, I wish I was.
She said, I'm a witness in a case.
And I said, well, I've sure done that a lot of times before.
I've been on that witness stand a lot of times.
She said, I sure wish you could tell me how to do it.
I said, ma'am, just tell the truth.
I said, the truth is easy to defend.
Just tell the truth. .
And that's all we do with our words.
When someone gets on that witness stand, you know what I've had to do many times?
Now, you've got all kinds of rules of evidence.
We don't want to get into all that.
But you know what I've done to get a lot of people convicted of crimes?
And what I've done to get a lot of people put in jail and sent off to prison?
Use their own words to convict them. .
Brother Shepard used to be an expert.
Still is.
But he used to do it for a living.
Using people's words to condemn them.
Getting confession after confession after confession as a polygraph operator.
By your words, you'll be justified.
By your words, you'll be condemned.
You know, when we stand before God, there won't be any rules of hearsay evidence.
God knows everything we've said. .
Everything we've done.
Someone says, Oh yeah, I did it.
There's a lot of times I couldn't use it on the witness stand.
I could say, well, he said he did it.
I couldn't use it.
Couldn't use it.

It wasn't written down.
It wasn't recorded.

All this crazy stuff.
But you know what?
Had I been able to get that into evidence, by his words, he would have been condemned.
In the same way, by your words you'll be justified.
