Episode Transcript
Take your Bibles and turn the book of Proverbs, chapter 11.
We'll be expounding verses 20 and 21 tonight, and as you're turning there, I so enjoyed listening to Brother Doug, teaching his nursing home class this morning on Facebook, he was telling those old people how it was never too late to fulfill God's will for you and to do God's will.
And he gave an example of one of the residents there at the nursing home, pushing another resident in the wheelchair to bring that woman to church.
How beautiful is that?
And when he first started preaching up there, which by the way was a result from them, the ladies and gentlemen singing Christmas carols up there, when he first started preaching there, he told those residents, "If anyone ever needs a Bible, let me know and I'll do my best to get you a Bible."
He's given three away now.
Those old people came to him looking for Bibles.
Anyway, he's so excited.
Proverbs 11, verses 20 and 21, the title of the message tonight is "Disgust and Delight."
We'll look here in our verses tonight.
The Lord speaks to us about they that are of a froward heart.
In a froward heart, we're looking at the definition of froward.
We're looking at its kind of its etymology.
It has the idea of something that is distorted and false.
If you reduced it down to two words, distorted and false.
When I was a little boy, there was a product that was very popular among children.
It was called Silly Putty.
Did you ever have any of that, Brother Shepherd?
You had to have some Silly Putty.
Did you all ever have Silly Putty?
Jeraminees?
I don't even know.
They even make it anymore?
I don't know.
They do?
All right.
You all need some Silly Putty.
Tammy, if you run this, you wouldn't let them have it.
If you find some Silly Putty at the dollar store, huh?
Yeah, get some and I'll pay you back as long as it's not over a dollar.
We'll get some for the Jeraminees.
That Silly Putty, one of the things I enjoyed about the Silly Putty was you could take it and put it on a newspaper.
If someone had their picture in the newspaper, maybe they got recognized by the city council or something.
You could take that Silly Putty, press it down flat, and lift their face up onto that Silly Putty off that newspaper.
You know what I did when I did that, don't you?
What did I do?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, you never even had any.
And you knew what a boy would do with it.
Of course, Brother Shepherd probably broke his and pieces or punched it.
But I did this and what happened was it distorted that face.
I tried to make it look weird because that's what boys do.
Girls will groom a doll, boys will poke pins in it and stuff.
But I distorted it.
But once that was distorted, it was no longer a true representation of what that picture was trying to depict in that paper.
So it was distorted.
Therefore, it was false.
It was distorted, twisted, and false representation of the image that it was supposed to portray.
And a person with a froward heart is someone who distorts, twists, and falsely misrepresents the truth of God on all levels.
I'm not just talking about the truth of God when it comes to doctrine.
I'm talking about the truth of God when it comes to creation.
When it comes to design, when it comes to his revelation to us.
But it's someone who distorts and twists and falsely misrepresents the truth of God.
Romans chapter 1, verse 25a, Romans 1, 25a, describes the godless people in our world today as those, quote, "who changed the truth of God into a lie."
That's someone with a froward heart.
They change the truth of God into a lie.
They take it and they distort it.
And they twist.
They take God's creation.
They take God's creation design and they distort it, entwist it, and falsely misrepresent the truth of God's design.
They take God's doctrine in the Bible.
They distort it, entwist it.
I was watching a video this morning of a priest, a pastor.
I can't remember.
It was United Methodist Church.
I can't remember where.
But he comes out and he's got his flowing robes on.
He's got sparkle makeup on.
And he comes and goes, "I am so privileged to be your pastor."
And he gave his preferred pronouns and all this stuff.
And of course, in his little stole that's over his neck, it's got rainbow and stuff like that on there.
And that's distorting and that's taking a pastor, someone who's supposed to be speaking God's word to the people.
And twisting it and distorting it.
And so there is a maligned representation of God's desire for man.
It's a lie.
When people say that Israel is occupying somebody else's territory and that they have no business being there, they're changing the truth of God into a lie.
When people say that God didn't make us, that we evolved on our own, they're changing the truth of God into a lie.
These people have a froward heart.
When the Delta Airlines diversity, equity, and inclusion officer tells pilots, they can't say ladies and gentlemen anymore because it's not inclusive, because there's more than two genders, they're changing the truth of God into a lie.
They have a froward heart.
The whole company has a froward heart to put someone in that position and pay them that kind of money to go around nitpicking what everyone says and does to try to conform someone to a false reality they're trying to interject into society and impose upon us.
The world has so distorted the truth of God today that not only do our children not know what gender they are, some of them don't know what species they are.
And we laugh because it seems funny, it seems like a joke in a punchline.
And then you think about it, you think, wait a second, it's not a joke, this is real.
They really don't know.
I saw a boy a while back, a teenage boy, and they were interviewing him.
He said he was a wolf.
A wolf.
Brother Gabriel was wearing our vacation Bible school shirt the other day at a gas station, and it says, you know, God made us on the shirt, girls and boys, and a man at a gas station read it, and he told Brother Gabriel, he said, "God made me gay."
And you know what that man was doing?
He was changing the truth of God into a lie.
That's what we're seeing.
We're seeing it in an incredible level like we've never seen before today.
People changing the truth of God into a lie.
The very thing the Apostle Paul spoke of in Romans chapter 1, the very thing that God is speaking about to us in the book of Proverbs tonight, a froward heart, one that twists and falsely misrepresents.
But listen, there are no alternative lifestyles.
There are no different points of view.
There are no cultural differences that we need to take into account.
There is the truth of God, and there are the many distortions that people make of it.
That's all there is.
There is the truth of God, and then there are the lies of the froward hearts.
And those who distort the truth of God, if you look back in your text, are abomination to the Lord.
That is hate speech.
That's what people call it.
It's not hate speech.
Not hate speech at all.
It's the truth.
It should be the truth.
It says there are abominations to the Lord.
That word abomination in Hebrew, it means disgusting.
I mean, if you look it up in the Hebrew dictionary, it will say disgusting.
When God looks down here on earth, and he sees what's going on today, it's disgusting to him.
It's sickening to him.
There are so-called experts, pastors, and social leaders today telling godless people that God is fine with them just like they are.
And these people, they condone the sinners, and then they condemn the saints who preach against the sin.
They've got it completely backwards, because they have froward hearts.
They're distorting the truth of God, because the Bible doesn't say God's fine with these people.
The Bible doesn't say that God is okay in accepting with people who are distorting his truth.
The Bible says that God's disgusted with it.
Disgusted with it.
That sure goes against the political grain today.
That sure sounds contrary to what the world's been telling us about God for many years.
What the pastors are getting, the TV time now, are telling us about God.
The world has managed to make Christians feel guilty about speaking out about unrighteous behavior, as I just did by saying it's disgusting.
God's disgusted with it.
"Oh, no, don't say that.
You'll drive people away.
Tell them God loves them.
We have an open door."
All this stuff.
Man, that's a lie.
God's disgusted with these people, and it's not until we understand God's disgust against our sin and his hatred of sin and his absolute holiness and how vile that we are in our sin compared to God in God's sight.
It's not until we recognize that that we'll have some motivation to flee from the wrath to come.
There is absolutely nothing, and the believers in here can attest to it, there is nothing that motivated me more to be saved than the fact that I knew God was holy and he was going to send me to hell because I was a sinner.
That is a big motivator.
I knew I was a sinner.
I knew God was holy.
I knew God hated my sin.
I knew that God prepared a place for sinners to burn forever and ever and ever, but I also knew that God loves those sinners and had a way to righteously forgive them and accept them.
I knew that way was the gospel.
I knew it.
I didn't understand the gospel, but I knew it.
And then when I understood it, man, I flee to the cross.
I run to the cross and I still hang it on at that cross.
But unless someone understands that, if we keep preaching that people are okay like they are, there is absolutely no motivation for them to go to Jesus.
None.
It is a devilish lie for a church to get up and to tell sinners that God loves them like they are.
But the world's managed to make us feel guilty about speaking against it.
They tell us, "Well, it's not our place to judge people like that."
And when they're telling us that, they're speaking with a froward heart.
How many of y'all have ever, because of the social engineering, now we're Christians in here, but how many of you, because of the social engineering and the social pressure that we've undergone for the past 10, 15, 20 years, ever start to say something in public, and then you lower your voice a little bit?
Or you feel hesitant?
Yeah.
Or that you feel hesitant to say it because someone's, someone will get mad or whatever.
We want to be loving.
We want to care about people.
We don't want to walk around and kick dirt in people's face.
But at the same time, the church has dropped the ball in standing against sin, and by doing so, sin does not appear to be sin anymore.
In the apostle Paul said in the book of Romans that the reason God gave the law was so that sin could become exceedingly sinful to the people committing it.
That way they could come to Jesus.
Another problem I have with the free grace movement, the hyper-free grace movement, they've distorted repentance.
They've completely hijacked the word repentance and stripped it of its value.
You've got one group that takes repentance and turns it into a work.
You've got the other side of the pendulum that takes repentance and strips it of everything that it means to where it means nothing anymore.
But if a person is celebrating sin and they're celebrating what's disgusting to God, that person's mind has to change about their sin.
I will never run to the cross for what I celebrate.
You can't.
You're not going to run to the cross for what you celebrate.
You're not going to seek mercy from the judge for something that you love.
You're going to run to the cross for something that you detect is dangerous, is vile, is disgusting.
The Bible says that God will wash away our sins.
The apostle Paul preached repentance for the remission of sins.
And then he baptized them in water showing a picture of them getting washed, them getting clean.
If I don't understand sin's filthiness, I'll never understand my need for God's cleanliness.
I can't.
And so understanding repentance as simply saying, "Well, I want to believe in Jesus down the cross for my sins now."
I understand that, but there's a lot that goes with that.
Because for me to believe Jesus died for my sins, I first have to understand that I have sin.
Or else how can I believe he died for sins I don't believe in.
And if I believe that he died for my sins, I have to understand then my sins were bad.
They were wrong.
And so we have to tell people, we have to do the job of God's law.
We preach against sin.
We preach God's law that every mouth may be stopped and all the world may become guilty before God.
As the book of Romans puts it.
And then when they see that they're guilty, they then plead guilty to the judge.
That's repentance.
The judge says they're guilty and now they have come to the place where they no longer celebrate their sin.
They now confess it.
And the Bible says if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
That's what John's talking about.
He's not talking about going around every day you sin.
Going around, oh God forgive me I just sinned.
God forgive me I just sinned.
Clears me from all unrighteousness.
God forgive me I just sinned.
He's talking about coming to the point in life where you realize I'm a sinner.
And so God's been telling you you're a sinner this whole time.
And finally you confess, meaning you now agree with God.
Yes God I am a sinner.
And yes God your son died for my sins.
That's repentance.
Confessing your sin and confessing his son.
Who died for those sins.
I'm not making it complicated it's extremely simple.
But again we've got to point sin out for what it is.
God's disgusted with it.
Now, look back in your text.
But, but such as our upright in their way are his delight.
Such as our upright in their way are his delight.
The word upright has the idea of being perfectly intact.
Nothing missing.
You walk around a car and there's not a hubcap missing.
No transmission missing.
Everything's intact.
You see a person there's no limb missing.
Everything's intact just the way God made it.
Just the way God designed it.
And the upright in their way in the way they walk are his delight.
We're not talking about physical in being physically intact.
We're about being spiritually intact.
That those who don't distort God's truth, but rather walk in God's truth are his delight.
In meaning he's pleased with them.
And that should immediately take our mind to the Lord Jesus Christ when he went to be baptized by John the Baptist.
And God said this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.
In other words, he didn't need washing by John.
I'm pleased with him.
And through him you can be washed.
That was the whole point.
And so God's delighted with those who are upright in their way who walk that upright.
Way and don't change the truth of God into a lie.
The blunt reality that the world doesn't want to hear is that God is disgusted with those who walk contrary to his word.
But he's delighted with those who do.
There are no concessions.
There are no happy mediums.
You're either you either accept God's word as the truth.
And you follow it or you reject God's word.
And distort it.
And those who acknowledge God's word is truth.
They acknowledge their stand on account of it.
And they believe the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Those are people who are walking in God's way.
And God's delighted in those people.
Those who will not however they're discussing to him.
And God says they're going to be punished.
God says look in verse 21 though hand join in hand the wicked shall not be in punished.
It's something we have to tell the world.
Yes God will send people to hell.
Yes the wicked shall be in punish.
Shall be punished.
Yes they are disgusting to God.
And I'm absolutely intrigued with this phrase though hand join in hand.
I've always been intrigued with it.
It fascinates me because God by saying though hand join in hand they shall not be in punished.
There is a presumption here.
There is a tacit statement here that hand will join in hand.
That the wicked will join hand in hand with each other.
And even though they do join hand in hand.
Even though they do globalize in the end.
Even though they do network in the end.
And they join hand in hand working together to advance their disgusting agenda.
Even though they do that.
They will not go in punished.
They can get 100%.
You can have almost 100% hand joining in hand to advance their wicked agenda.
Doesn't matter.
God's not interested in the super majority of man.
How do we know?
Look back there at Noah in Noah's day.
Hand joining in hand.
Look back after Noah's day.
Look back to the tower of Babel.
Hand joining in hand.
God said I'll take care of that.
But the wicked have a way of networking with each other.
Man we've noted man the wicked the righteous.
They're not as good at networking.
But the wicked they are amazing at networking with each other.
Making an incredible machine.
The wicked love to approve.
To encourage and to have the backs of their fellow froward people.
Why does society want you to use preferred pronouns?
They want hand joining in hand.
They want everyone on the same page.
When the wicked put together a heavy social and political machine.
They're joining hand in hand together to stand against the things of God.
But though hand join in hand the wicked shall not be unpunished.
When the one world government starts to form at the end of the age.
That will be what we're reading about here.
And I have been talking more about the end times lately.
Because people ask me about the end times.
Because they can sense the world's changing.
And it's scary to some people.
And I understand that.
And it's exciting to me.
It's very exciting to me.
And so I'm trying to explain what's going on with the scripture.
We're experiencing something I don't think the world's ever experienced before right now.
We have the internet.
We have global communications.
And you can see that what's happening in America and trying to advance is happening in Canada.
Is happening in France.
Is happening in different parts of the world.
It's spreading.
It's like the yeast or the leaven in bread.
It's starting to spread the whole across the whole lump.
And what's happening is the world's joining hand in hand.
The spirit of antichrist in the seed of the serpent is joining hand in hand.
Linking together.
And as they join hand in hand the day of Noah.
As they join hand in hand in the time of Babel.
Where they said let's make us a city.
Let's be scattered abroad.
We'll make a name for ourselves.
This is a one world government that they literally had established and attempted to continue on.
To perpetuate the word I was looking for.
And so the one world government will do that in the end.
They're going to join hand in hand like we're looking at here.
And they're going to establish this government.
But though hand join in hand the wicked will not be unpunished.
Look back in your text.
It says they will not be unpunished but the seed of the righteous.
God said shall be delivered.
The seed of the righteous.
And this is again what we're talking about when we're looking here at the end times.
And also the very beginning of the book of Genesis.
The seed of the righteous here is talking about the woman's seed.
In the book of Genesis where God said I'll put in between your seed talking to the serpent and her seed the woman's seed and you go to the book of the revelation.
And you see that those who are believers in Christ.
They are Abraham's seed and heirs according to promise.
So Jew or Gentile were Abraham's seed who is the woman's seed rather than going back to the serpent's seed.
And so now the seed of the righteous God said the wicked join hand in hand.
The serpent's seed going to join hand in hand but they're going to be punished.
But the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
There's going to be deliverance for the seed of the righteous.
And the only way you can be delivered is to be in trouble and to be delivered out of it.
You see?
He's not saying that the seed of the righteous shall be preserved.
The seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
They'll be rescued out of trouble.
Trouble from whom?
From the wicked who are joining hand in hand against them.
You see how this works?
1 Thessalonians chapter 5 verse 1 through 9.
1 Thessalonians chapter 5 verse 1 through 9.
But of the times and the seasons brethren you have no need that are right unto you for yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief and the night.
Now the day of the Lord is when the Lord comes and delivers the seed of the righteous.
It's also the day when the Lord while delivering the seed of the righteous is damning those who join in hand in hand against them.
You see?
It's both.
It depends on who you are.
It's the day of the Lord.
If you belong with the Lord that's your day.
If you're against the Lord that's not good at all because God's coming against you.
So but he's coming for us and when he comes for us he comes against them.
So people say well when how long will we be here during the tribulation?
Well we'll be here until the Lord comes for us.
Well yeah I know that brother Richard but what about all this other stuff?
Well when the Lord comes for us he comes against them.
And so we'll be here until the Lord comes against the wicked who join hand in hand and when he does he'll punish the wicked.
He'll deliver or rapture have you want to put it the seed of the righteous.
So but of the times and seasons brethren you have no need that are right unto you for you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
For when they shall say notice it says they were now we get into pronouns and we study God's word but not when we distort it.
And so when they shall say see it comes as a thief in the night but doesn't come as a thief at night upon the seed of the righteous.
We're waiting for it we're children of the day that's a whole different text.
A whole different part of the Bible but when they shall say peace and safety you see they'll think oh man we've got hand joining hand we've got this whooped.
We have peace now and we have safety.
No because the day of the Lord's coming.
When they think they have peace and safety the seed of the righteous will not have peace or safety in this world but when the Lord comes back things are going to change.
Verse three for when they shall say peace and safety then sudden destruction cometh upon them not upon us but upon them as travail upon a woman with child and they shall not escape.
They don't escape but we get delivered we do escape because we're not appointed under wrath.
They shall not escape that's another word saying they shall not be unpunished.
Verse four but ye brethren are not in darkness that that day should overtake you as a thief which is what I was talking about to you earlier.
Ye are all the children that means the seed of light and the children of the day we are not of the night nor of darkness therefore let us not sleep as do others but let us watch and be sober for they that sleep sleep in the night and they that be drunk and are drunk in the night but let us who are of the day be sober putting on the breastplate of right of faith and love and for in helmet the hope of salvation for God hath not appointed us to wrath that's the day of the Lord what they get sudden destruction shall come upon them God hath not appointed us to that wrath but to obtain salvation that's deliverance here in Proverbs to obtain salvation by Lord Jesus Christ.
So the closer we get to the end you can expect the wicked to solidify their stand against God.
Right now you watch our presidential leaders.
Let's say here what is that goofy guy from that they chose for vice president?
What's huh?
Waltz.
He says he belongs he's some episcopal somewhere or another and they're all into this transgender stuff.
Kamala Harris she says that she is if I remember right Baptist with a Hindu family view but but do you see I mean how do you even get there but do you do you see what's happening and even Barack Obama claimed to be a Christian but it was black liberation theology which is not Christianity but what they do is they still try to somehow hang on to that Christian name the church name somehow hang on to some symbol of it to make everyone accept them but what's going to happen in the end all that's going to be solidified it's all a charade anyway but in the end they'll drop the charade they'll take the mask off and they'll be very bold about not believing in God they'll be very bold about their false beliefs and then they'll come out more and more because right now they're coming out and measure they'll do only what they're allowed to do only what they can get away with but in the end they're going to take that mask off the bible speaks about the man of sin coming from out of the midst and and and and that is going to happen in the end and all gloves will be off hand will be joined in hand together it'll be such a machine the bible says they'll be able to to take the believer out of the economy just take them out of the economy they can't buy ourself that's hand joining in hand but what's going to happen is when Jesus comes a heavier hand is going to come on them and the hand that comes down on them is going to bring us up to him and there you are right here in proverbs chapter 11 showing us about the sea of the righteous being delivered from those joining hand in hand it's all throughout the bible it all flows together smoothly and i thank god for this amazing guarantee in scripture lord we thank you so much for your word tonight i thank you father first of all for assuring us that your truth has not changed people are getting to where they don't know what's real anymore they're getting to where they don't know what to believe anymore but lord your word your truth has not changed it'll never change but the world's distorting it they're they have a froward heart so they're maligning your truth they're twisting they're distorting it they're creating a false representation which creates a false reality and they're deceiving the masses and lord i thank you father that you tell us in your word that you don't approve that you you're disgusted with it and that even though father they link hand in hand together across the globe that lord uh you will expose their lies you will condemn their sins and you will deliver those who stayed true to the truth you've given them and father i thank you for each person listening tonight who has accepted the fact that they're a sinner and that you sent your son to die for them and who has accepted the fact that your word is our final authority no matter what the rest of this world says no matter how crazy it gets no matter how distorted the picture becomes and no matter how unpopular the truth is we still need to embrace your word and preach it to a lost and dying world because we know you're still calling out those who will come unto Jesus and be saved his precious name we pray thank you for the promise you're going to deliver us from this mess one day we're looking forward to it amen
